We were delighted to be joined by Britain's greatest ever female gymnast, Beth Tweddle MBE, at our State of Play event in Manchester on Friday.
Beth is a director of Switch The Play, an organisation which helps athletes fulfil their potential through and beyond sport.
Beth highlighted just how receptive the commercial and corporate world is to the transferable skills that are gained through participation in sport.
I spoke at the event about media and sports law and met Beth. Although our sporting careers were somewhat different (whilst Beth was securing an Olympic medal at elite level I was getting hit for six at many cricket grounds at grassroots level), it was clear that sport had helped us both to achieve others things in life and business.
I'm a member of the sports law team at Brabners - if anybody is thinking of pursuing a career in law, I'd be happy to have a chat about my experience and what is involved.
Tweddle was speaking at the State of Play event organised by legal firm Brabners, which focussed on the legal and commercial challenges prompted by developments in governance, funding, regulation, reputation and technology on sports organisations.
