It is rumoured that the German Football Association (DFB) has teamed up with the Infront marketing agency to launch an eSports league. If the reports from Bild are correct, DFB will be joining the French Football Federation (FFF), Belgium and the Netherlands as one of the national governing body’s currently involved in competitive gaming.
As we've highlighted in previous posts, traditional sports are looking to ensure they are able to bring the virtual versions of their games under their existing umbrella. The reports suggest that DFB will be focusing solely on soccer games which follows the trend of other traditional sports making moves to corner the eSports version of their game.
German soccer body will limit gaming activity to soccer-related titles and formats.
