Inter Milan have acquired the naming rights to ASD Femminile Inter Milano. ASD's current players and youth squad who currently play in the women's second tier in Italy will officially take Inter's name following a deal approved by the Italian Football Association (FIGC).
This move is the latest development in the restructuring of the Serie A giants, who have undergone a change of ownership in recent years following a period of underachievement. Inter's senior men's team have failed to win a major title since 2011.
Inter's women's side are currently top of Serie B with a 100% win record this season. The acquisition of ASD is without doubt a vital step for Inter and the women's game as a whole as it will undoubtedly strengthen an increasingly competitive sporting arena.
