It's heart-warming to see success stories like this.  Family businesses are such a key part of the success of our economy, but so many fail to survive beyond the second generation.  That the Myers Group can now claim the impressive accolade of being a 4th generation family business is to be celebrated.

I have no doubt that a key component of the success behind this family business was to think ahead.  The current generation are clearly young and driven, whereas many family businesses limp along with octogenarian patriarch or matriarch unwilling to hand the reins over.

I always try to ensure my clients understand the value of planning now as the process to effectively hand control over can take in excess of 10 years - you don't want to start that at 70!
