Liverpool has long been associated with hosting huge sporting events such as The Merseyside Derby, The Open and the Grand National but it is really pushing the boat out with the Gay Games which attracts over 10,000 athletes annually together with all their support. It would be great for Liverpool businesses too as 10,000 people who have travelled from all over the world will need somewhere to eat, sleep and (based on the experience of friends of mine who attended the Gay Games in Paris last year) drink!
One of the goals of Brabners’ LGBT Affinity Group is to promote awareness of issues affecting the LGBT+ community and hosting such a high profile event would represent a huge opportunity to advance that conversation.
