The Co-op and other supermarkets are on a huge recruitment drive for temporary staff to cover the upsurge in demand. This presents an opportunity for temporary and casual workers, particularly those in the hospitality and leisure sectors, to obtain some paid work in the short term to help tide them over.
Employers in the sectors most affected by the current crisis could use this to help their workers source temporary roles int he supermarkets and even discuss formally linking up with them and helping their employees secure these temporary roles, thus doing what they can to help their workers in these difficult times and generating goodwill in to the bargain.
