With rumours circulating about an imminent further lockdown period for the hospitality industry, the Government is expected to announce an enhanced financial support package for those businesses that are forced to close over the coming months.
The Chancellor is expected to announce a six month package that which will support businesses that will be hit by the enhanced restrictions in the worst affected areas. A three month review period will also be built into the package.
This scheme will operate alongside the Job Support Scheme, which will replace the furlough scheme from 1 November, under which eligible workers get three quarters of their normal salaries for six months.
The precise details of the scheme remains to be seen, however, the assistance will no doubt come as welcome relief to the hospitality industry, which is already on its knees due to the summer lockdown and 10.00 pm curfew.
We will report further just as soon as more information is released.
The chancellor will set out on Friday more financial support for businesses forced to close by law when virus rules are tightened in England.
