Colin is an intellectual property expert and a Partner in our Commercial team.
Colin is an experienced commercial lawyer who specialises in intellectual property law. He handles issues such as patents, trade marks, copyright, passing-off, brand management and domain names, as well as database, image and design rights.
He also advises clients (including, in particular, sport clients) on commercial matters including contracts, licensing, franchising, agency, collaborations, joint ventures, sponsorship, broadcasting, host city and venue agreements, as well as privacy, data protection, GDPR, retail, e-commerce, gambling, betting, advertising and promotion issues.
Colin has a strong background in contentious and non-contentious intellectual property work and is highly experienced in brand strategy, clearance advice and filing, prosecuting and managing UK, EU and International trade mark applications and portfolios.
He previously worked in the Intellectual Property Group at a major London firm.
Colin is a member of the International Trade Mark Association and has a Post Graduate Diploma in Commercial Intellectual Property Law.
He is classed as a ‘Leading Individual’ and ‘Recommended Lawyer’ by The Legal 500 which notes that Colin has a “phenomenal grasp of a wide range of trademark and patent issues”.
Colin’s clients include Commonwealth Games Federation, Rentalcars.com, CORGI, vTime, Restore, Veka, TALL Group, TJ Morris (Home Bargains), FAUN, Human Recognition Systems, Dixon Group Europe and a number of football clubs.
